Using dada.cartesian together with dada.distances

Post by Shai » Wed Apr 15, 2020 11:19 am

Hi,

I am a research partner in music synchronization. I have a corpus of 52 MIDI files that have three channels of percussion. I can very well see the data in dada.cartesian (see link below).
I need to compute the distances between the notes so I thought about dada.distances but I run into some difficulties.
Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Shai

Hi and welcome!

Can you be a bit more specific on the kind of troubles you are having?
dada.distances needs both a "table" and a "distancetable" in order to work properly. You can perhaps look at [dada.base] help file, tab "distance tables", on how to create them fill them up?

Best,
Daniele

Dear Daniele,

Thanks,
Each note of the MIDI file is represented in the dada.cartesian as a dot: onset/pitch (43,45,48 - players 1-2-3).
I want to compute the distances between the succession of each 3 notes in the stream and present it in dada.distances.
I'm almost there - take a look at the patch attached.

Best,
Shai
