markov analysis of harmonies?

Post by dgeers » Fri Mar 06, 2020 1:39 pm

Dear all,

Greetings. I began to explore the cage.markov objects, which are lovely. However I'm curious whether you have advice on how I might hack them to manage polyphonic music, such as a work for piano. Is that possible, or would it require a more low-level solution?

I have used Oren Sandred's "Studio Flat" PWGL library for this task in the past, but I am trying now to migrate to bach/cage, or other Max tools that I can use with them.

Many thanks for any advice,

Doug

Hi,

we will post on Patreon in the next two weeks some patches we built for the Ariane# project in Montbéliard some time ago.
One of them will do what you want in one specific way (there are multiple ways you can tackle the problem, of course).
The patches will be open to everyone at least for two months due to the coronavirus crisis.

That sounds fabulous. Thank you! I look forward to seeing that post.

I of course know of non-bach/cage markov procedures in Max, but if I could keep the student working within the bach ecosystem (as much as possible), that would be ideal.

And of course, my best wishes for the health and safety of everyone.

Doug
