Confusion in syntax for pitches compared to cents

Post by sydy » Thu Sep 03, 2020 2:40 pm

Dear Daniele,

Just for curiosity (but also because I couldn't understand it and it made me looking down a rabbit hole of other problems that weren't there...

Why do we need two levels of parentheses when introducing cents as separate syntax into a Bach.score but only one level when using pitches?

thanks a best,
Micha

Uhm,this sounds like a quirk to me, but I am currently away from the computer.
Can you post a simple patch reproducing the behavior?
Thanks for notifying.
The chord level is the correct syntax, but omitting it is an accepted notational abuse.

Thanks for your reply Daniele. So it must concern the notational abuse. It actually also works with cents – I mean the notational abuse of omitting the chord level.
No need to investigate further.
Best,
Micha
