dear all,
I need advice. are there any best practices to export a roll to finale in a way that it'd preserve the notes vertical position as exactly as possible? i don't need any special info to get through (slots, etc), but i'd like to preserve time ratios and syncronicities.
roll quantize score musicXML?
roll midi ...?
my plan is to "recreate" the roll in finale (maybe only noteheads, space notation)
(i've never used sibelius but if that's more suitable i could learn... but i'm in a time-pressure at the moment)

Re: roll 2 finale
I think you're first option is probably best. I've done both, and the saving as MIDI works well, but you potentially lose some aspects of notation you might want to keep, such as note spelling or beaming. This is not to say that MusicXML is perfect, just easier to edit.
Good luck,
Tim

thanks Tim!
what quantization setup would you recommend to maximize rhythmic resolution?

Re: roll 2 finale
Hi, if you have different voices and you need to preserve synchronicities, and you use [bach.quantize], you might want to add the "@sync 1" attribute. As for the precision, you probably might want to tune the @minimalunits attribute.
Re: roll 2 finale
I didn't know about the @sync 1. I use the @minimalunits 1/64, @sync 1 fixed a problem I was having with what looked like "drift." Thanks.
