apologies and a sneak peek

Post by andreaagostini » Mon Sep 16, 2013 7:33 pm

Dear friends,

it turns out that we totally missed some e-mail activity on the official bach account. It's just a trivial problem with our mail server, and we truly hope that no messages got lost.

We will reply to everyone in a matter of days. If you sent us an email and don't hear from us in a reasonably short time, please insist!

As a sign of good will, we wish to give you a sneak peek into some of the most important new features of the forthcoming version of bach which, if everything goes well, should be released in a couple of months as v0.7.2 beta.

First of all, the new version will complete the transition to Max 6. This means full 64-bit support, and an all new documentation system - including Max 6-style help files, autocompletion, sidebar, full references and everything.

We have three brand new objects: bach.value, bach.pv, bach.pack, and a new abstraction, bach.dict2llll - we let you guess what they do!

Something we're very proud of is the new heuristic search engine for bach.constraints. It's still under severe testing, it is totally useless if not thoroughly documented and sure it deserves some serious optimization, but the results so far are encouraging.

We're working hard to fix all the bugs that are being reported, including the issues with MusicXML - and of course all the bugs that we found on our own as well!

And then of course there is the usual ton of small improvements to many objects, but we don't want to bore you now: you'll find them all listed in the _History.txt file of the next release.

We hope that all this will earn us your forgiveness for the email thing... ;)

Stay tuned!
andrea
