Ruler offset

Post by fcd » Fri Dec 29, 2023 12:06 pm

Hello!
When preparing a bach.roll before to proceed to a quantization, one can add time signatures markers. I do so by calculating the time interval between one element and another, then I can find which combination of bars will fit the duration in ms. By doing so, I often have empty bars of irrational values. In this situation, to put precisely a marker is a bit a problem, considering that the more I progress in the score, the more I am "offset" from the grid.

Is there a way to apply an offset to the ruler+grid, to simplify the markers application, namely if they are not on quarter notes?
For the moment I change the number of subdivisions of the grid, but with the addition of offsets it is not the ideal tool.

Thank you !

Hello, I'm afraid that currently the ruler/grid has no offset mechanism...

Hello Daniele,
Thank you for your reply. I managed to work without this feature.
The only thing is that the "snap onsets to grid" would be a much more wonderful tool if we could have the possibility to change where the beat starts in the roll, may it be by general grid offset, or by a structured grid of different divisions like in a DAW.
best wishes

Yes, I understand. That's true.
