score cosmetics

Post by broc » Thu Jun 22, 2023 12:21 pm

I'm using bach.score in Ableton Live (M4L) to generate the score from MIDI clips.
It works great but from my experience with Logic Pro I find the following options useful.

1. Interpretation (simplifying rests)
For example, a bar <1/16 note, 1/16 rest, 1/8 rest, 1/4 rest, 1/2 note>
would be simplified to <1/4 note, 1/4 rest, 1/2 note>.

2. No Overlap
For example, if note E starts while C is playing,
note C would be cut provided the distance to E is greater than quantize/2.

Are there any settings of bach.score to get or approximate similar effects?

Hello,

there's no option for any of this, but they should be both codable in patch (which is the best way to go, in my opinion, given you need something quite specific, such as a given distance as threshold).
There's a "poly" message that allows handling polyphony, but it currently works only for bach.roll.

Best,
Daniele
