Newbie advice

Post by Algo » Wed Apr 13, 2022 10:34 pm

Hey!

I'm sorry to be asking here but it seems to be my last resort. I'm trying to figure out how Bach works but I can't find any introduction tutorials or documentation anywhere.

I'm trying to work out how to build scales and basic rhythms. This is something I can do pretty easily in max but I want to do it only using bach language. I discovered cage.scale which seems to be pretty good, but I can't work out how to set it to tone divisions: i.e. if I'm only doing semi-tones it will still give me microtones in the cents.
My rhythm solutions seem to be a bit janky, I'm sure it's not the right way to do them.

If anyone can point me in a direction it would be much appreciated

Hello.
If you go in the Extras menu, then bach.overview you will find some tutorials. Not the most pedagogically sound ones, granted, but better than nothing... :-)

If you have an issue with cage.scale, can you post a patch snippet? I will give a look.
Best,
Daniele
